This capacity is not\ncentralized in a mouth but exists in each cell, at the level of the roots. On\nthe other hand, the plant produces its own food, and taste and nutrition are\nmuch more closely associated than for humans. They adjust the consumption of\nsubstances, depending on the stresses encountered<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Some experiments:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The plans of Arabisopsis absorb more manganese when the soil becomes acidic<\/strong>. The roots regulate the consumption of minerals by the plant, as needed. The root first tastes the substance before allowing it to pass through the dam of the endoderm and reach the sap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/plant-intelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/roots-227931__340-1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-715\" srcset=\"https:\/\/plant-intelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/roots-227931__340-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/plant-intelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/roots-227931__340-1.jpg 453w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tel Aviv University&rsquo;s Fromm experiments on the\nrecognition of water sources by plants.<\/strong><br>\n\u2022 Roots in dry soil bend to find water. But the\nmechanism is not discovered.<br>\n\u2022 The roots inform the whole plant of the drop in\nwater level, which leads to the reduction of surface roots and faster growth of\ndeep roots.<br>\n\u2022 The roots use substances (still unknown) to\nprevent not from more water the more distant roots of the same plant but also\nthe roots of other plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Current experiments aim to measure very\nprecisely the needs and consumption of each plant in minerals in order to\nreduce the overproduction of synthetic fertilizers.
