“Every living being is intelligent who manages to solve the problems he encounters during his life and develops two skills: knowing how to learn and knowing how to keep in memory to use it later. Intelligence is better expressed in the harsh conditions of the natural environment than in those of domestication. ” Francis HALLE, biologist, 2018.
The latest scientific discoveries regarding plants are astounding. They show a sensitive, adaptive, communicating and networked plant world. Plants are far more active than we ever realized. So, we absolutely need a new frame of reference.
In a changing world, with the climate threat, the Plant Intelligence Association is there to explore the consequences of these discoveries.
In that aim, we will encourage research and the coordination between the scientific, philosophical and legal communities. The ultimate objective is a new deal between human and plants.
This new way of thinking must gradually be integrated into public policy. It must also be understood and assimilated by the economic world and civil society, particularly through education.
The association was founded in 2019 on the initiative of Sebastien Palle, expert in public affairs and European regulations.
We want to be pragmatic. It is not a question of stopping progress but of mastering it, by making better use of bio intelligence. The association wants to reinforce the link between researchers, thinkers, public decision-makers and economic actors.
